Jimmy Edgar - This One's For The Children / Switch Switch [HF033]

New plate from Hotflush from the man based in Detroit, Jimmy Edgar. Not much to listen to in 'This One's For The Children', but the real gem is the b-side.

'Switch Switch' is a new step in the dubstep sound. Make sure you listen closely, vibes through the roof filled with electro-funk.

Buy and listen to the track at surus: http://www.surus.co.uk/hotflush-recordings/this-one-s-for-the-children-16795.aspx

Puppy Kicker, Von D, Author

So for some time now i've been noticing quite some releases that focus more on the melody side of Dubstep. More jazzy licks, deep atmospheres, even some vocals. I find myself fancying these mixes quite a lot. It's refreshing from a diet of the usual sub bass and mid-range bass.

So to start off, i gotta thank P Man over at http://www.pmandubs.com/ for the blog i read earlier about this EP. I'll save time introducing this artist by letting Beatport do the talking:

San Diego based musician Justin Stephenson aka 'Puppy Kicker' brings his 'Coloures & Memories EP ' to Rogue Dubs. Featuring six songs that are full of life, uplifting melodies, & despite the name, are deep, sexy and almost spiritual in nature. A truly unique album that is a must have for collectors of dub, jazz, midtempo & avant electronic.

Be sure to get this off Beatport, or on Junodownload out in December.

Next off, the main man Von D. Apart from a few others (Skream, Joker, Pinch, etc.) Von D really has a stronghold on the jazzy vocal side of Dubstep. His first album 'Daydreaming' is a good effort in showcasing his talent, bringing together vocals, catchy tunes, and bass in perfect harmony. I believe that his best track ever is track 5 off this LP entitled 'Asap'.

But now is where we come to the creme dela creme. This month the best album this year in Dubstep along with the best tracks in the genre have come out of the Tecnonic camp with help from Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin as a duo under the alias Author on the album named after them, 'Author'.

Track after track after track it's a collection of hit after hit. Alone, each track would be the stand out track of any EP. It's chilling to hear them all together under one LP and even more chilling to hear them in numerical progression, as 'Author' actually feels and gives off a vibe that it's a complete and whole album, not just a collection of singles put together under one CD (or 2 vinyl plates if you opt for that route). It's hard to choose but if i had to id go with 'Revolutions' as the best track.

All of these tracks i've mentioned so far are deserving of your money. Go and buy them as they are top notch.

More to come later.
